Well…some games, some expansions.
So, a local gaming store is closing its doors. Definitely a sad thing for those in the area that get together there to play and buy, of course. But not so sad for those looking for 50% off some games!
Well, I was in the area and I’m a sucker for a good deal. It looks like I missed out on some of the more popular titles, but I did pick up a few things:
Here is a run-down of what I got and why.
World of Warcraft TCG Dungeon Decks. Three of them, actually. For $5, I couldn’t say no. A few of us were talking about building/buying some decks and taking this game for a spin (again, for some of us). This might be a fun way to go about it! Andrew will probably buy one or two of these off me.
Rise of the Runelords Anniversary Hardcover. This is one of those “just in case” purchases. I also picked up the Pathfinder Beginner’s Box, ‘just in case.’ My recent foray into email RPGing did not turn out well (the RPGing was fine, but the pace was too slow for my Gamer Distraction Syndrome to deal with). Maybe one day I could rustle up some folks, even my own kids one day if I geekify them early enough, to give this a go. But this means I’ll need to pick up the new stand-ups as well. Of course.
Battles of Westeros Expansions. Lords of the River and Tribes of the Vale. I’m a sucker for expansions, and I did myself a disservice when I bought the base game, knowing I’d have to be buying some expansions. As usual. Well, $15 a pop, that’s pretty good. So now all I need is one more small expansion and the big one. Oh, and then I have to actually play my copy! Don’t even ask. Yeesh.
Super Dungeon Explore. A game I’ve heard mixed reviews on. But hey, it’s pretty, it’s bountiful, and it has expansions! Oh, and it was cheap. Like, $50 cheap. Sweet deal. This may or may not turn into a future hobby project.
Tannhauser Expansion. Operation Novgorod. I’m still hoping to one day play this game again and like it. I didn’t mind it back when it first came out, but others (read: Andrew) were not impressed. Hopefully the revamped rules, which I also have, will make the game better. I’m hoping!
And, well, there goes my hobby budget for the next month or two! Just imagine if I wasn’t such an expansion-wh*re, I might only have bought the TCG decks and the RPG book. Thank goodness for my ‘problem’! 🙂
…just don’t tell my wife…
Thanks for reading.
