Why is that whenever I want to focus on something as much as possible, my son gets sick? He’s had a cold the last few nights, so my evening hobby time has been shortened. However, I did manage to accomplish the following:
The bases for the Bloody Reaver and the Heldenhammer are just about complete. I just need to fill in some details (wrecked ships and sails floating in the water) and touch up a few spots, and they’re good to go. They turned out darker than expected, but I think they look pretty cool! I’ll do the same for the rest of the ship bases and terrain bits.
I started off with a white prime, then laid down a good cover of Exile Blue. Next came a heavy drybrush of Cygnar Base Highlight, followed by a lighter drybrush of Meredius Blue, focusing on the waves crests. Then came Underbelly Blue highlighting on the waves again, an Asurmen Blue wash followed by a Thraka Green wash, and finally a highlight of Morrow White to top off the waves.
The Heldenhammer got a white prime with my brush-on gesso. I was going to wait and get some new Vallejo brush-on primer, but after the gesso seemed to work well on the bases (not leaving streaks as I had feared), I just went and primed her. Tonight I’ll prime the sails and the Bloody Reaver, so I can get started on painting them tomorrow. If possible, I’ll prime the bases from the other ships as well, and the terrain features with water too, so I can get all of the water painting out of the way. It’s possible that I’ll get totally bored of painting so much water altogether, so maybe I should just paint the necessary terrain and maybe the ships needed for the second scenario instead. Good call.
Thanks for reading.
