So, among all of the projects I’d like to work on next, it came down to War Rocket and Dreadfleet. Hydra’s game of “Space Battles in the Atomic Age” almost won out, but Garfy’s Dreadfleet Showcase post up on Tale of Painters a few weeks ago helped pull GW’s fantasy naval game ahead. War Rocket, and many other games, will have to get back in line while I start Dreadfleet, then!
I picked up Dreadfleet from Andrew in our High Elves-Tomb Kings trade a few months ago. He was certain he would not get around to learning or painting the game, but would happily play it if I learned the rules. And since I’ve been painting a lot more than him lately, it was a good idea to hand it off to me.
It is pretty much brand-new at this point. Andrew only de-sprued one of the main ships, and everything else is on-sprue or still wrapped/bagged.
I’m ready to get started on this, and I’ve already made an unboxing video. I don’t like it, so I’d like to redo it if I get a chance. Maybe tonight or tomorrow I can work on that.
However, there is the issue of needing new brushes. I’ll going to make a run down to Curry’s to pick up some brushes today, or else I won’t be able to do any detail work! It got pretty difficult to finish the last few models with splayed brushes.
I forsee myself sitting down to assemble and prime (or prime and not assemble, depending) this weekend, likely Sunday. Not sure how far I’ll get through the project before getting tired of painting ships, but I think I can get this sucker done over time.
Great ready for some naval mayhem, coming up!
Thanks for reading.
