Continuuing with my recent flurry of painting, I finished two more Outcast figures this week. In fact, I had finished the Fixer in one night (Sunday) which was awesome, and then took two nights (Monday and Tuesday after gaming) to complete the Warchief.
Here is the Fixer:
I am pretty pleased with how he turned out, for three reasons. First, he fits in with the rest of the crew quite well. Skintone, Rucksack Tan clothing and Ogryn Flesh wash all make for what is now the normal Outcast look I am going with. Second, I do not see too much that I need to touch up. Yay! And lastly, the green parts were done in a rare technique for me: 2-3 Thraka Green washes over Trollblood Highlight. The only other models that I’ve painted through washes are Tomb King stuff. And I think it turned out pretty well with the Fixer.
Here is the Warchief:
It was only when I was nearly finished the majority of blocking colours (i.e. everything before the washes) that I realised I had not painted him in a scheme more similar to the Wasteland Warriors, which I had planned to do, as he is essentially a WW leader (as well as the Outcast leader in general). In fact, I don’t have any green or Rucksack Tan on this guy, which pretty much isolates him among the Outcasts. However, I think after the washes and with the bases, he fits in just fine. I think the next (last) two models will have the same issue, as I don’t think they will include Rucksack Tan other than their base edging.
Up close it is very noticeable that I didn’t paint the eyes. I just don’t do that.
A couple of touch-ups on these two models and they’re all done. But I’ll come back and do that later. Now, on to the next one!
