I just put the finishing touches on my Outcast Fixer, and when those dry I will snip his tab and attach him to his base. Since I’m too tired to do that and take pictures tonight (this morning…it’s 2am!), I thought I’d put up a shot of my Workbench, as it looked before a cleanup this weekend.
I should probably be embarrassed about the state of the place, but I’m not, as it gets to looking like this quite frequently, then gets a cleanup. A week’s worth of modelling, computering and randomly moving things around takes its toll on an office space! So I have to spend some time each week to fix it up.
Anyway, let’s go through what we see:
On the far left, just past the chair, there is a storage tower with some drawers missing. They’re full of Heroscape stuff and in the basement. The drawer that is there has a variety of empty starter box boxes, and all of the Khaliman Republic sets from Alkemy. When that game was on the workbench, the boxes were on the table. Now they’re just in that drawer, waiting for some love.
Under the chair is my large container of white glue, which I use when basing WHFB models, and the like.
All over the desk, which as you can see is made up of two foldy tables pushed together, are paint pots, mostly by Privateer Press. A quick look right now and there are over 30 scattered around, making up the colours I’ve been using for the Outcasts and Showgirls as of late. When these two projects are finished (3 and 1 models left, respectively), I’ll put all of the paints back in the box lids I keep them in and then start taking them out again for the next project (that announcement coming soon).
To the left of the monitor is a box lid with a bunch of my ‘recently’ painted models, namely the Dark Age Dragyri, the couple of Alkemy figures and some Showgirls. Other things in the box include Young Nephilim I had painted previously for Malifaux, and the brown-primed Westerners starter for Hell Dorado. They’re all just there temporarily while I move stuff around and find home for non-current projects.
Yes, my mousepad is a piece of cardstock.
To the left of the lightbox are most of the paint pots, plus all of the models on my ‘Workbench.’
Inside the lightbox are the 1/6th scale Modal Nodes I talked about before. They’ve been hanging around in there for over a month now, I think! I hadn’t needed to take too many pictures in the box during that time, so they could wait.
To the right of the lightbox are a couple of piles of stuff, including ‘stuff to sort’ and a pile of books that I will be choosing from once I’ve finished Cherie Priest’s Boneshaker. I normally get my wife to randomly choose what’s next, but I think my 16-month old son has made the decision after grabbing Taylor Anderson’s Into The Storm. I was hoping for something a bit shorter next, though. Hrm.
And lastly of note on the floor, on top of some boxes, is my new 3″ Sabol foam tray that will hold my Outcasts. You can see Mongo is already at home in it, and since this picture was taken all of the other painted models have had their spaces plucked. I’ll write a post or make a video about that when it’s all done.
Anyway, this was a pretty random post. My next few should be a bit more interesting, showing off some painted stuff and announcing my next painting project.
Thanks for reading.
