If Shakespeare had the plethora of games to choose from then as we do now, he probably would have been too distracted playing them to write his plays and sonnets.
And now for the real topic of this post.
Last night at Meeplemart I was chatting with local friend/gamer/’Mart-owner Steve about my current miniatures projects (namely Heavy Gear Blitz now, then C&C: Ancients in 3D later). After a great discussion about the direction I’m going in with those, and possibilities about how to go about certain aspects, we got onto Dust Tactics.
I’ve put off buying into the game, even though a couple of years ago it was the game I was waiting for. At the time, AT-43 was at its peak, and apparently it was the test run for what was going to be the Dust Tactics based on the same system. Well, Rackham flopped, or whatever, and the game was not to be released. So I decided to just go on to (many) other things, like Malifaux and Warhammer Fantasy and the like.
Dust Tactics was then released by FFG, and I got excited. But I told myself I would not get into it, because I was already spending so much money on other games, minis and board and otherwise. So I didn’t do it.
Even though I had been waiting for it previously.
Even though I have a deep interest in WWII, and alternate-WWII.
Even though I usually don’t have a problem buying into new game systems.
Now that the game is getting Revised, I’m reconsidering it. Especially after Steve was very insistant on joining him in a Dust Tactics endeavour. We could split the forces, each taking an army, even. That would definitely be nice, not having to worry about buying both factions (although, again, that hasn’t stopped me before).

I’m not sure yet. I still haven’t even played the thing! Luckily, there’s a playable copy at Meeplemart, and Steve and I have plans to play it in the very near future. This will help me decide. Also, now that the original starter set is OOP, I may not be able to pick it up. Which stinks, because if I’m to get into the game, I’d like to start there.
Well that’s it. A slight dilemma I’ve got going around in my head. These are the toughest sort of decisions I have to make in life. Can you imagine? I must have an easy life!
Oh, in other news, I’ve primed all of my Heavy Gear models, and have begun the painting. I’ve got three basecoated (I’ll tell you the colours when I post my first progress report), but I’m now going to focus on painting one completely to see if I can get a desireable paint scheme/process.
